The Adjustment Bureau – What’s Your Fate?
Posted by Kenney Edwards on Mar 8, 2011 in Entertainment | 0 comments
The Adjustment Bureau had an exciting twist that I wasn’t expecting. It was a movie that both guys and gals can enjoy.
Emily Blunt was beautiful, and Matt Damon was courageous. Anthony Mackie was cool and has a big heart. What would you do if you thought your fate, your destiny, your future was not in your hands? Would you fight for it?
Matt Damon, while running for a seat in the Senate finds something that he loves more than being in lime light and hearing the applause of the crowds from a great speech. The Adjustment Bureau is about a fear, fate, love, and courage to follow your heart.
For anyone that has ever felt that no matter how hard you tried to reach your goal it seems like something or someone is keeping you from getting there. Like you are so close, but yet so far.
If you are a movie lover you will like this movie. We give this movie a “full hand clap”.

Warner Bros. To Offer Movie Rentals On Facebook
Mar 9th
NEW YORK — Movie rentals are coming to Facebook. Warner Bros. says it is testing a service that will offer select movies for purchase or rental through the public pages of these movies on the world’s largest online social network.
Starting Tuesday, Facebook users who visit the official page of “Batman: The Dark Knight” can click a “watch” icon and pay 30 Facebook credits, or $3, to watch the movie. The movie is streamed through a Facebook application.
Renters have access to a movie for 48 hours and can replay it as many times as they like. Warner Bros. said it will add other movies in coming months but did not say what those would be.
The page had nearly 4 million “likes” as of Tuesday afternoon. Another page, called simply “Dark Knight,” had about 2 million – but this is not the official Warner Bros. page and the movie isn’t available through it.
Warner Bros. didn’t say how much it will cost to buy movies.
“Making our films available through Facebook is a natural extension of our digital distribution efforts,” said Thomas Gewecke, president of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, in a statement.
The offering is only open to people in the United States.
“While officially dubbed a test, we expect to see more studios get behind the effort given the large platform and higher price point,” wrote Jefferies analyst Youssef H. Squali in a note to investors. He added that he sees the Facebook-Warner Bros. deal as “yet another caution sign” against movie rental company Netflix Inc.’s high stock value.
Netflix lost $11.95, or 5.8 percent, to close at $195.45. Time Warner Inc., which owns Warner Bros., fell 35 cents to close at $36.43.
“With Facebook’s entry, the competitive playing field is getting crowded,” the analyst said. “We expect this competition to curtail Netflix’s subscriber growth and drive higher content costs, impacting revenue growth and (profit) margins over time.”
Netflix had no comment.

Voltron Movie Sparks A Bidding War, Film Could Be Here By 2013
Mar 8th
For all the ups and downs a movie adaptation of Voltron has faced over the years, never did things seem better than last September when it was announced that Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer – the writers behind Marcus Nispel’s upcoming Conan The Barbarian – were hired to script what would be the first feature film version of the 1984 cartoon series and two pieces of concept art were released. Was hasn’t been so inspiring since then is the absolute radio silence. Since that story broke last fall we haven’t heard even the slightest peep from the project…until now.
Vulture is reporting that studios have begun a bidding war over the rights to finance the Voltron movie. While the story doesn’t say exactly which studios are in the running for the World Events Productions-owned property, Relativity Media is definitely in play. In addition to the feature, a new animated series for Nicktoons is also in development and will make its debut this May. Should Relativity end up winning, it’s unknown if they will handle distribution (Nicktoons is owned by Viacom which is a sister company of Paramount, meaning they could be the ones to handle its release). The expectation is that the movie could be released sometime in 2013 or 2014.
No matter how you break it down, it’s still going to be a long time before a Voltron movie comes out, but at least fans can take solace in the idea that whoever ends up being the winner will likely make the project a priority. After all, why spend all that money on a possible Transformers-sized property and then let it sit on a shelf?

Colin Firth In ‘Stoker’: Oscar Winner, Nicole Kidman In Vampire Movie
Mar 8th
From King to King of the Night?
Fresh off his Oscar winning turn as King George VI in “The King’s Speech,” Colin Firth plans to give audiences the chills in a whole new way. The Daily Mail reports that Firth is signed to play a vampire in the film “Stoker.” And he’ll have good cast mates: fellow Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, as well as Mia Wasikowska, perhaps the most sought after young actress in Hollywood right now, are set to co-star.
In a script penned by “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller, Firth will play a vampire/uncle who visits mother and daughter Kidman and Wasikowska after the death of Kidman’s husband. The title of the film may be a nod to “Dracula” author Brahm Stoker, though formally, it comes from Wasikowska and Kidman’s surname in the film; Wasikowska’s character’s name will be India Stoker.
The Los Angeles Times reported in February that Firth was in negotiations for the film, discussing various aspects with the movie’s South Korean director, Chan Wook-Park.

Lara Croft is coming back, but without Angelina Jolie
Mar 8th
Lara Croft is coming back, but it won’t be Angelina Jolie wearing the short shorts this time around. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new big screen reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise is in the works without the original’s signature star.

Producer Graham King and his GK Films have bought the movie rights to the videogame heroine and plans to have a new film in theaters by 2013. According to his production company, the new film will be “create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft.” The key word there, clearly, is “young.” Of course, it would be absurd to call Jolie old. At 35 she is still very much in her prime. But for an industry that judges its female stars by the strict law of diminishing returns as they age, it’s no surprise.
British producer King helmed a lot of big-name projects including The Aviator, The Departed, The Town and Jolie’s last film, The Tourist. The original Lara Croft: Tomb Raider came out in 2001 and grossed more than $270 million worldwide while helping to turn Jolie into in international superstar. It was followed in 2003 by the sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, which grossed another $156 million worldwide. Granted, the films weren’t Shakespeare. In fact, I recall The Cradle of Life being so bad it is probably best watched on mute so one can just enjoy the visuals.

The question now, of course, turns to who will strap on the hip holsters instead. The list of twenty-something actresses who could fit the bill is long. And one can assume that role will be highly sought after since there aren’t too chances to lead big-budget action franchises for women out there.
Here are a sampling of suggestions. From this side of the pond: Olivia Wilde (we already know she looks great in skin-tight body suits thanks to Tron Legacy), Mila Kunis (she’s like Jolie’s tiny, sassy niece as is), Megan Fox (I know, but I just watched Jennifer’s Body for the first time and she wasn’t terrible) and Amber Heard (remember, hair dye is cheap).

From the proper side of the pond, since Lady Croft is British after all: Gemma Arterton (she was already in a Bond movie), Rebecca Hall (she certainly could act the hell out of the part), Hayley Atwell (if Kate Beckinsale can be an action star, why not?) and Katie McGrath (look, I know she’s Irish, but I would kill to see her in the Lara Croft togs).

Of course, the bigger question could be why they’re rebooting the franchise at all. Not to look gift horse bearing a female-fronted action movie in the mouth, but do we really need to keep remaking the same female heroine roles? Reboots of Wonder Woman, Charlie’s Angels and even Buffy the Vampire Slayer are all in the works already. And there are continually rumors of the Aliens franchise returning. While I might actually check out some of these remakes when they come out, I can’t help thinking Hollywood should try harder. Sure, Buffy and Wonder Woman and even Lara Croft are strong, iconic female characters, but how about writing us some new ones instead of rehashing the old ones.
So, what do you think? Excited about a new Lara Croft? And who should fill Angie’s short shorts?

“Extinction,” the movie based on “Stargate: Atlantis” is still residing in limbo, but apparently “Stargate: Universe” may stand a better chance of stepping into the movie frontier.
“Stargate: Universe” was cancelled at the end of last year due to declining ratings in a new timeslot, however producer Joseph Mallozzi has since remain positive about the chances of the series making a return to finish its story. Mallozzi has generally kept his cards close to his chest regarding what format SGU would take if it returns and now it looks like the best approach is the television movie.
“Hopefully by the time [the season finale, 'Gauntlet'] airs we’ll have definite word on a potential movie or two,” he posted in his official blog.
The final 10 episodes of the series launched on Syfy last night and the events will lead-up to what has been described as a “spectacular” ending to the season. Mallozzi has also suggested that if the deal comes together and “Stargate: Universe” does return as a television movie (or even a series of movies) then “The Gauntlet” will serve as the perfect episode to catapult the series forward.
“If it’s a go [on the television movies] and fans can look forward to a proper end to Destiny’s mission, then ‘Gauntlet’ will certainly set the stage for a grand conclusion,” he said. “If, on the other hand, things don’t pan out and ‘Gauntlet’ does turn out to be the bittersweet [series] finale, fans will be thrilled, touched, heartbroken … and left to wonder what could have been.”
The sets at Bridge Studios in Vancouver, B.C., remain standing while the final fate of the show is decided. Shortly after the cancellation order it looked like Metro Goldwyn Mayer would be shopping SGU to other networks in the hopes of a third season but that has now been ruled out.
“Stargate: Universe” airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on Syfy.
