Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber Win Kids’ Choice Awards Snoop Dogg and Jack Black got covered in green slime…
Justin Bieber won two awards at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in LA on 2 April. Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Selena Gomez also picked up gongs.
Miley took home one of the most coveted awards of the night, Favourite Movie Actress for The Last Song. In her acceptance speech the Can’t Be Tamed singer thanked her co-star and on-off boyfriend Liam Hemsworth for “helping me make movie magic”, fuelling rumours that the pair are back together.
Justin wasn’t at the Awards as he was in Berlin for his My World tour, but he sent thank you messages as Baby won Favourite Song and he was named Favourite Male Singer. Katy Perry got the female equivalent, while Justin’s girlfriend Selena Gomez won the TV Actress category.
Justin Timberlake accepted the Big Help Award for his work with charities, while Johnny Depp won Favourite Movie Actor for Alice In Wonderland. Jaden Smith was on hand as The Karate Kid won Favourite Movie and his sister Willow Smith performed 21st Century Girl and Whip My Hair.
Jack Black hosted the event and opening the show with a performance with the Black Eyed Peas.
As is tradition at the awards ceremony, some unlucky stars got covered in green slime. This year it was Jack Black, Snoop Dogg, Heidi Klum, Jim Carrey and Fergie’s other half Josh Duhamel.

The Social Network takes top Critics’ Choice Award
Jan 17th
LOS ANGELES — Facebook film “The Social Network” became a big friend of broadcast critics on Friday when it won several top Critics’ Choice Awards, including best film, in the race toward Hollywood’s Oscars.
The movie, which traces the history of the popular website from its founding in a college dormitory to its first million users, also earned a best director trophy for David Fincher and adapted screenplay for writer Aaron Sorkin, among others.
Fincher was not on hand to accept his award, but in claiming his trophy, Sorkin made a point of mentioning Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who had not cooperated with the making of the fictional film.
On stage, Sorkin called Zuckerberg “an extraordinary leader” and “altruistic” and said, “we all owe you a debt of gratitude” for creating the website that has become ingrained in much of society.
Colin Firth was named best actor for his role as stammering King George VI who must prove to the United Kingdom that he can be a leader in the dark days ahead of the World War Two in “The King’s Speech,” which also claimed best original screenplay.
Backstage, Firth told reporters King George’s tale was “a story of quiet dignity … set again a very broad stage — something very, very personal against a very broad backdrop.”
Natalie Portman, who recently revealed she was pregnant and engaged to be married, took home the trophy for best actress portraying a young ballerina who grows into a mature woman and a dancer in drama “The Black Swan.”
“I feel great,” Portman told reporters about her pregnancy “It’s been really calm and good.”
‘FIGHTER’ PACKS A PUNCH
The night’s other big winner was boxing drama “The Fighter,” which earned awards for best ensemble performance for its cast, best supporting actress for Melissa Leo as a headstrong mother, and supporting actor for Christian Bale playing a boxer whose career is ruined by drugs.
The Critics Choice honors are given out by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, which includes some 250 TV, radio and online critics and is the largest group of film and TV reviewers in the United States and Canada.
Its awards come only two days before the Hollywood Foreign Press Association hands out Golden Globe trophies, and both events come a little more than a week before nominations for Oscars are handed out on Jan. 25.
Taken as a whole, critics awards often provide hints about which films, actors, actresses and others will compete for Oscars when they are given out by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, this year on Feb. 27.
Last year’s winner of Critics’ Choice honors for best film and director, for instance, were war drama “The Hurt Locker” and its maker Kathryn Bigelow. Both went on to win Academy Awards in their respective categories.
Other winners of Critics Choice honors included director Christopher Nolan’s thriller “Inception,” which was named best action movie. It is widely expected to compete for Oscars.
Box office sensation “Toy Story 3” was named best animated movie, and a nonfiction film about education issues, “Waiting for Superman” claimed the trophy for best documentary.
An award for best made-for-TV movie went to World War Two tale, “The Pacific.”
The BFCA gave out two honorary awards, one to director Quentin Tarantino for his work in mixing music and movies, and to Matt Damon for his humanitarian work outside Hollywood bringing fresh water to people who don’t have it.

Proving that vampires are still all the rage, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse came in on top at Wednesday nights’ People’s Choice Awards, hosted by Queen Latifah.
The third installment in the fang-heavy love story picked up four trophies at the ceremony, including favorite movie, beating out Oscar contenders Inception and The Social Network.
Eclipse’s main heroine, Kristen Stewart, took home the award for favorite movie actress, leaving huge names like Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston in the dust. The flick also won for favorite drama movie and favorite on-screen team.
But Eclipse’s luck didn’t spread to the boys in the film, as stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner both lost in the favorite movie actor to Johnny Depp, for his portrayal in Alice in Wonderland. Zac Efron also showed Pattinson who’s boss, when he picked up the award for favorite movie star under 25.
In the TV category, the singing sensations of Glee were silenced by Hugh Laurie and House, M.D., which won favorite TV drama, favorite TV drama actor and favorite TV drama actress (Lisa Edelstein).
Eminem continued to prove that he has his finger on America’s pulse, as the rapper topped the music categories, picking up a total of three awards. Em wonfor favorite male artist and favorite hip hop artist, while also scoring for favorite song along for “Love the Way You Lie,” his duet with Rihanna, who also won favorite pop star.

‘Twilight’ Wins Top Movie Prize at People’s Choice Awards
Jan 6th
by Celebuzz on Jan. 5, 2011 08:05 PM / Leave a Comment
With the most infamous trio in young Hollywood in the house, the fans chose Twilight as the Favorite Movie winner at the People’s Choice Awards.
Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson all took the stage to take home the crystal trophy. Lautner spent the most time at the microphone, saying:
I can’t believe this? You guys are unreal. It still amazes me … You guys have gotten us here today, but you have also given us the opportunity to currently be filming Breaking Dawn … I can’t wait for you guys to see it. Mark my words, the best is yet to come.
Stewart chimed in with a quick thanks to the movie’s producers, and Pattinson — speaking over a slew of shrieks from the crowd — kept things light and jovial with his speech.
He joked that Kristen and Taylor “definitely wrote speeches” as he freestyled his, saying he couldnt “hear what either of them said.” He then turned his appreciation towards the fans, saying, “Thank you very much for everything. It’s been a wonderful experience.”
